After the 2011 RAK Half Marathon

From the finish line direct to Barracuda, maybe not the best way to recover but it was certainly well earned.

  1. Paul - Like you I started running barefoot after reading Born To Run. I've been slowly training my feet at some padded tracks around town - Al Barsha and Safa. I think I'll get to the point of being able to run long distances, but for now I've got to stop after 4 miles or so because of blisters. I wait a couple days and then I am ready to go. I'd like to get a pair of VFF to aid in my longer runs. Do you know if they're available here?

I'll check back occasionally for an answer. Love to hear others are running barefoot here in Dubai.

  2. The Society Store in Festival City stock VFF's but they have very limited stock (and are expensive!). If you call them on 04 232 6550 they will take your name and muber and call you back once new stock arrives. They tell me the list of people waiting for stock to arrive is very long.

I keep trying to find out from Vibram when they will have other Middle East stockists but annoyingly I don't get a response.

    I hope this helps!

Time Out are looking to do a Dubai-based barefoot running feature and are looking for other barefoot runners out there. Let me know if you'd like to be involved.
    Many thanks
