Expert podiatric advice. Broken sesamoid and potential hallux limitus

After speaking with a fantastic Podiatric Surgeon from Fitter Feet For Life (http://www.fitterfeet.com/index.php) it seems that not only is my tibial sesamoid twice the size it should be, it’s also broken in two. I need to have an MRI scan done before I can be sure. There might also be 1st MTT Stage 1 hallux limitus (reduced flexibility of the big toe, and the start of a slippery slope to arthritis of the big toe), but an MRI will reveal all.

What this means is that I need to keep my weight off my big toe for at least another 6 weeks, and it will be more than two months until the bone is properly fixed. Only then can I even think about jogging again. I’m gutted. Until then I need to avoid doing anything where the big toe is flexed, so walking barefoot is not allowed. Instead I need stiff soled footwear or the huge clumpy rolling MBT shoes (http://uk.mbt.com/). Good job the VFF’s have trained me to not be bothered about looking ridiculous.
